The events of the film are set after The Fate of the Furious (2017) where Dominic Toretto along with his family has to fight Jakob. Jakob is a murderer and younger brother of Dominic who now joined hands with Cipher in order to take revenge against Dominic. The plot has uncovered that the father of Dominic and Jakob who died in a racing accident was actually killed. It happened due to an oil patch left by Jakob on the racetrack.
